About the artist
Roberto Nucci, alias 'Zambrano,' was born in Naples on May 17, 1970. In 1990, he graduated from the Instituto d’Arte De Chirico di Torre Annunziata in Naples with a degree in graphic design and photography.
With a natural talent for painting inspired by French Impressionism, Expressionism, and Art Deco, he has developed a constantly evolving visual style of his own.
The artist is enthusiastic about 'en plein air' painting and is committed to an eternal quest for new expressions. He prefers to work with oil and acrylic paints, experimenting with new techniques and materials, such as plaster and decorative elements like collage, newspaper, and stuccos. This approach often results in his works being polymaterial.
His style of painting is visually captivating, with a deep poetic essence, ranging from stylized landscapes to intriguing 1950s-style characters.
In his works, we discover a scenery where the statuesque materiality of locations intersects with the fleeting moments of the characters living within them. The overlapping of past and present, the contrast between the everlasting and the evanescent, encourages contemplation, evokes emotions, and conveys a romantic feeling in a modern graffiti style.
Charming atmospheres reminiscent of scenes from a novel or a retro film emerge, conjuring up hazy memories and igniting our imagination.
The artist guides us through a panoramic view where enchanting warm colors blend harmoniously, where idyllic shades of yellow and blue triumph, and where the central theme is often red, sometimes blue—a representation of the eternal flame of passion, an itinerant spark of life and love.
This is Roberto's art, a creative process that doesn't conclude with the last brushstroke but continues in the eye of the beholder.
In recent years, he has embraced Pop Art, incorporating the colors and expressions of famous individuals while connecting music, history, and culture in homage to Andy Warhol.
He has held solo exhibitions in the Kuopio library (2016, 2018, 2019), the Leppävaara library in Kuopio, and the peasant museum in 2022. Finally, in 2023, he opened his home studio, Atelier Zambrano in Kuopio.
