Join the graffiti art competition

Klaus K Hotel Graffiti

Service Design, Guest Connection, Art, Atmosphere Design and Finland’s National Epic are at the core of the Klaus K DNA.

We are expanding the hotel in 2014 – upwards! Our new spaces will reach to the sky and adorned with a new name and concept – Klaus K Sky Lofts.

The Sky Lofts are not typical hotel rooms. These are living/working/play spaces for people coming to Helsinki for whatever purpose. The reason for being here does not really matter, whether you are on your own for business or pleasure; with friends or family.

This year, and for the second time, we are incorporating an inspiring and organic method of collaboration we call Co-Creation. We had a successful “journey” in 2012 with our LIVING ROOM co-creation project renewing our lobby and restaurant spaces. The urban street art form of graffiti is almost synonymous with the urban loft. Therefore, we’ll insert graffiti in the new Sky Lofts space. We thought this would be a perfect opportunity for creative people who want to fashion this new spectacular space together with us.

The Graffiti co-creation campaign will be facilitated with social media platforms mainly on Facebook but we also encourage usage of Pinterest and Instagram (you can even use email).

The two main methods of participation are: sharing and/or creating. Both require creativity and passion.

SHARING – if you see something you think would fit the new Sky Lofts you can post it on our different platforms

CREATING – create your own work of art on any format

THE DEAL – people who share will be entered in a monthly drawing for hotel room and restaurant prizes; those who create may have a chance to work together with Mr. Vertti Kivi, Finland’s top interior designer, and create a permanent installation.

THE TIMING – The campaign launch occurs on the Night of Arts until the end of 2013. Each week will have a theme, consisting of an element, object or a character in Kalevala – story telling about the role of the theme in hand – encouraging people to search, share and inspire them to create something around that theme. Graffiti as the form of art will be carried in the spotlight all the way.

MAIN POINTS:

  • All artwork should reflect some connection with Kalevala.
  • Two categories of participation. 1. SHARER: If you see some cool graffiti and you think we should consider it, please submit it. 2. CREATOR: Makes a piece of graffiti art and submits it.
  • Prizes: sharers will be entered into a monthly raffle to win a room night or dinner for two. Creators – enter into a jury process where they may be selected to work with our interior design office dSign Vertti Kivi & co to have a permanent installation in the Sky Lofts corridors and a night in the spectacular Sky Loft Terrace Suite.
  • All participants will be invited to the opening party scheduled for summer 2014.
